The Free Medical Journals Site was created to promote the free availability of full text medical journals on the Internet. This site provides links to more than 1,300 medical journals available on the Internet for free. This collection of medical journals includes materials for the scholarly researcher and for the general public.
7.2 FreeFulltext: -
FreeFulltext.com provides over 7,000 publications with full or limited access to articles. Publications are listed alphabetically. Links may go directly to an article or to a journal where you will have to navigate the site to find the article or publication issue.
7.3 Priory Medical Journals: -

DOAJ offers over 2,060 peer reviewed or editorial quality research journals. Journals can be browsed alphabetically by title or by the subject area. The health sciences subject area provides 349 journals with focuses such as public health, nursing and general medicine. Searches can be conducted using the journal title, ISSN, dates, author, keyword, and words located within the abstracts or all fields. Access to certain journals may change based upon agreements with publishers.
7.5 BioMed Central: -
All original research articles published by BioMed Central are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. BioMed Central views open access to research as essential in order to ensure the rapid and efficient communication of research findings.
7.6 MEDLARS Databases:-
Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System (MEDLARS) of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), US has over 40 databases. The subjects range from clinical medicine, oncology, population, dentistry, toxicology to nursing. These databases are accessible through the Internet, free of cost. Important amongst these are MEDLINE, AIDSLINE, AIDSDRUGS, AIDSTRIALS, TOXLINE, CANCERLIT, POPLINE, BIOETHICS and Clinical Alerts. MEDLINE, with over 9 million citations from 1966 onwards, can be accessed through NLM's PubMED or NLM Gateway.
7.7 Public Library of Science (PLoS):-
PLoS provides full text, peer reviewed, and scientific or medical research articles in various subject areas. Articles are current and PLoS has created several journals to group similar content together. Searching can be conducted by keyword or by advanced searching. Information chaining is utilized in articles so you can click on an author’s name to retrieve other articles written by them. Also identified within PLoS articles are links to articles not provided by PLoS that are available for free from other sources.

Searching can be done by keyword or by an advanced search; a help guide is provided for searching. Searching can be limited by free publications or publications available for purchase.
7.9 PubMed Central:-
PubMed Central (PMC) is free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal of National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the US. Full-text databases of biomedical and life sciences are available through the US National Library of Medicine.
7.10 Medscape: -
Medscape offers over 130 full text medical journal articles. The content available from each journal ranges from a few articles, a single issue, or several years of full journal access. You must register, which is free, to search the journal holdings. Journals are listed in alphabetical order and searching can only be performed with keywords, no advanced searching is available. Articles are presented over numerous pages, and some citations do not lead directly to the article.
7.11 Highwire Press Stanford University: -
Offers over 1.5 million free full text journal articles related to science and medicine. Journals are listed alphabetically and show the range date for content available. Searching can be performed by keyword, with a citation or advanced methods. The site is regularly updated and contains information about future releases.
7.12 IndMED: -
The purpose of IndMED is to index selected peer reviewed medical journals published from India. It supplements international indexing services like PubMed. It covers about 77 journals indexed from 1985 onwards.
IndMED has been produced under an ICMR funded project - "National Databases of Indian Medical Journals". Another resource produced under this project is a portal of full text articles (medIND) of select Indian medical journals indexed in IndMED or PubMed.
7.13 QMed: -
This site is a portal to other sites which in combination offer 93 medical research journals. Most were created in India, but published in English. This site redirects you to the journals, some of which you need to register with the site to access. Searching is done through the journal site not through QMed.
7.14 OpenMD:-
OpenMED@NIC is an open access archive for Medical and Allied Sciences. Here authors / owners can self-archive their scientific and technical documents. For this they need to register once in order to obtain a user id in OpenMED@NIC system. However no registration is required for searching the archive or viewing the documents.
7.15Pharmacy Journals: -
Directory of online pharmacy journals handpicked pharmacist experts. There are many printed pharmacy journals available. All of the top pharmacy journals are available on the internet for free.
7.16 Biomedical e-Journals: -
This site provides links to a variety of medical journals worldwide. The level of access varies between each journal, but it is indicated for each journal listing. The journals are listed alphabetically and come in a variety of languages. Searching is available at each journal site, there is not a centralized search for this site.
7.17 Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR):-
JMIR is a peer reviewed, open access journal which focuses on health consumer informatics and the usage of the Internet in health care for research and communication. Searching can be done by keyword, author, title, abstract and index terms and publication date.
The "Journal of Medical Internet Research" founded in 1999, is a leading health informatics and health services/health policy journal (ranked first by impact factor in these disciplines) focusing on emerging technologies in health, medicine, and biomedical research.
7.18 Medknow Publications: -
Medknow Publications is the largest publisher in India for academic and scientific biomedical journals. Medknow Publications is a publisher for peer-reviewed, online/print + online journals in the area of STM. Medknow is the largest open access publisher publishing on behalf of learned societies and associations.

7.20 Bioline International: -
Bioline International (BI) is a not-for-profit electronic publishing service committed to providing OA to quality research journals published in developing countries. It covers Journals of health on (tropical medicine, infectious diseases, epidemiology, emerging new diseases).
